According to Statistics Canada’s report, Family violence in Canada: A statistical profile, 2010 by Sinha Maire, elderly report that most of the violence against them is perpetrated by their grown children. Likewise, about 50% of all murdered seniors were killed by their grown children. These rates are compiled from reported cases so there are many more senior citizens who victimized. The report also states that many acts of violence by the grown children were due to frustration and escalation of arguments.
How can an adult child be so frustrated with their elderly parents that resort to violence? How can they forget the hard work their parents did to raise them?
